Jody Weis is the organist at First United Methodist Church in Manhattan, Kansas. She also serves as the principal accompanist for the Chancel Choir. Previously she served as the Assistant Music Director at St. Michael the Archangel Parish in Leawood, KS where she directed two girls’ choirs and served as accompanist, organist and cantor. She has also been a returning judge for the Kansas Wesleyan University Mid-Level Music Contest for voice and choir. Ms. Weis currently teaches organ, piano and voice.
A native of Minnesota, Ms. Weis earned her Bachelor of Music in organ performance at the University of Wisconsin-Superior, studying under the late Dr. Norma Stevlingson. Ms. Weis then earned her Master of Music in organ performance from the University of Kansas where she studied with Dr. Michael Bauer and Dr. James Higdon. During her studies she has also had the privilege to work with Marie-Claire Alain, Olivier Latry, Guy Bovet and Rick Erickson.
Ms. Weis enjoys all sorts of music including reggae, Mongolian throat singing, alternative-style artists such as Imogen Heap, and of course any Beethoven symphony. She loves speaking French, drinking tea, and creating mixed-media art. Ms. Weis currently lives in the country with her husband and two children.
